We are proud to present our Founders' Reserve 2019.
We are very proud to present the second bottle of Founders' Reserve. After a great amount of patience and hard work, Kingsbarns are very proud of this bottling.
Karen Stewart, Director of Marketing, talks about the release: "The second bottling in our series of five Founders’ Club releases is the first opportunity we’ve had to experience the maturation of Kingsbarns spirit fully in the “Shaved, Toasted and Recharred” wine barriques that we only use in a small proportion for our main Dream to Dram whisky. And it looks, smells and tastes amazing! I am sure our Founders’ Club members will be delighted with their second bottle."
Peter discusses the launch: "I am delighted to announce the release of the second Founders' Club Reserve bottling! Aged exclusively in STR casks (Shaved Toasted re-charred ex-Portuguese wine barriques), and unleashed at a cask strength of 61.1%. The team and I are all incredibly proud of this bottling. It signifies a significant building block of flavour to the Founders' Club bundle and truly the next step in the journey of Kingsbarns… Just as we celebrate our 5th anniversary since opening in November 2014. This new arrival is multi-layered, complex and stands alone in terms of anything we have previously released. Slainte Mhath."
Tasting notes from Peter:
Region: Lowland
Size: 70cl
ABV: 61.1%
Chill Filtration: No
Cask: 100% STR barriques
Nose: Opens up to reveal dried fruit, figs, orange peel and plum syrup. It's jammy! There is a little mint chocolate chip in the background all held together beautifully by a soft vanilla note.
Taste: The palate begins with spiced marmalade and sultanas soaked in cider brandy… Certainly more than a hint of Christmas cake spice in here too.
Finish: Long. The spice note lingers before developing into herbal complexity with menthol and wild sage.
