At Darnley’s, we’ve always believed that great gin doesn’t need embellishment. Instead, we focus on clarity of flavour — drawing on ingredients that are bright, clean and naturally aromatic. Elderflower brings gentle florals. Lemon peel adds lift. Grains of paradise offer warmth without weight.
Every decision we make, from sourcing to distilling, reflects our belief in doing things properly — even if it takes longer. Our production is small scale by design, allowing us to work with care, consistency, and attention to detail in every batch.

Our home is a former farm cottage just outside the village of Kingsbarns, a few miles from the centre of St Andrews. The distillery sits within the grounds of Kingsbarns Distillery, but has its own space, rhythm and purpose.
Inside, you’ll find our traditional copper still, our test lab where new recipes are developed, and the team who make every bottle of Darnley’s by hand. It’s not a showpiece — it’s a working space with heart, and a clear link between the land and the gin we produce.
A Gin with a Local Accent
We think of Darnley’s as a gin with a quiet sense of place. Not defined by big claims, but by the subtle influence of the landscape around us.
In the garden just outside the still house, we grow botanicals like lemon balm and rosemary — used not only to garnish our serves, but also in the distillation itself. By using ingredients grown onsite, we reduce our botanical miles and keep our process more environmentally considerate. It’s a small step, but one that reflects our wider approach: thoughtful, sustainable, and rooted in the real character of the East Neuk.
