ANNIVERSARY OF FIRST MASH

The 16th January 2015 was a very important day for Kingsbarns Distillery as it marked the first mash in our new distillery. The mashtun was filled with our milled malted barley and water for the first time around noon. Understandably, as with any new equipment, there were a few teething problems on the first run, with the final collection in the washback some 10 hours later. OUR FIRST ANNIVERSARY

We’ve been open for a year! We celebrated our opening on St Andrews Day, 30th November, with get-together in the visitor centre. William Wemyss, from the Wemyss family owners, and Douglas Clement, Founder and Visitor Centre Manager lead proceedings by launching the Kingsbarns Distillery Founders’ Club. To celebrate the first anniversary, we re-lived some of the highlights from our first year. One of our talented guides, John, gave a rendition of the Burns poem John Barleycorn. KINGSBARNS DISTILLERY BOTTLES NEW MAKE SPIRIT

We are delighted to announce that bottles of Kingsbarns Distillery New Make Spirit are now for sale at the Visitor Centre and on our online shop. Distilling started in January 2015 and Distllery Manager, Peter Holroyd, and his team are so delighted with the quality of the spirit being produced that it was decided to bottle some for all to try as well as filling it into casks. Scotch Whisky has to mature for at least 3 years and a day in oak casks and so the launch of the new make spirit will give visitors and curious whisky drinkers...
