International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. In celebration of International Women’s Day 2022, we wanted to share some positivity from the women behind Kingsbarns, and their views on being a woman in the whisky industry today.

Isabella Wemyss - Production Director

“My side of the business is very much a man’s world, and often I am one of the few women in the room.  It’s reassuring to know, however, that as a business we are committed to equal opportunities and I work day to day with some wonderful women in other areas.  We are all in this together, irrespective of gender!”

Hannah Alexander - Head of Marketing

“Today is a day to celebrate women across the globe, past and present, who have paved the way for future generations and the ones who are doing that for us all now. I feel so proud to be working within the whisky industry and being surrounded by so many talented and incredible women who inspire me every day. I’m also lucky I have a team full of them too! Today is a day for recognising that and lifting one another up every day thereafter.”

Ginny Boswell - European Regional Sales Manager

“I am hugely privileged to be supported by both a great team of women at Wemyss, but also a fantastic network of female friends who also work in this industry. Together we strive to eradicate myths about whisky drinking and to challenge stereotypes of whisky drinking in this day and age. Together, there is nothing that we cannot achieve.”

Andrea Morris - Kingsbarns Duty Manager

I think what I love most is the buzz of the working distillery – it’s an infectious thrill that lights up the face of every visitor as you take them through the door. There's something different going on every day, and there's a great energy about the place. Passion for whisky brings people together from all walks of life, and it’s great to see so many women, as well as men, enjoying our tours and tastings.”

Eleanor Robson - Communications Manager

I'm so proud to work with an incredible team of smart, strong, and inspirational women across all areas of the drinks industry. This International Women's Day and Women's History Month I'll be celebrating all the women who have paved the way for all of us, helping to change the face of whisky and pushing to create an ever more inclusive space for people to explore, discover, and enjoy whisky. I'm so excited to celebrate with our team and friends across the industry today!”
